Cadmium Plated
Features: With the oceanic atmosphere or sea water contact parts and hot water above 70 degrees C, cadmium coating is relatively stable, corrosion resistance, good lubricity, dissolved in thin hydrochloric acid is very slow, but in nitric acid is very soluble, insoluble in alkali, its oxides are not soluble in water. Cadmium coating is softer than zinc plating, the hydrogen brittleness of the coating is small, the adhesion is strong, and under certain electrolytic conditions, the cadmium coating obtained is more beautiful than the zinc coating. However, the gases produced by cadmium during melting are toxic, and soluble cadmium salts are also toxic.
Under normal conditions, cadmium is cathode coating for steel and anode coating for oceanic and high temperature atmosphere.
Application: It is mainly used to protect parts from atmospheric corrosion of seawater or similar salt solutions and saturated seawater vapors, and cadmium plating is used in many parts of the aerospace, marine and electronics industries, springs and threaded parts. Can be polished, phosphated and used as a paint base, but not as a food utensil.
