What is the K-Wire Attachment?

 

The K-Wire Attachment is a specially designed accessory for use with surgical drills. Powered by the drill, it facilitates the insertion of K-Wires (Kirschner Wires) into bone. The K-Wire, a steel pin widely used in orthopedic surgery, was invented by German surgeon Martin Kirschner in the early 20th century.

 

K-Wire drills are typically used in a variety of orthopedic procedures, including fracture fixation, joint stabilization, skeletal traction, and other corrective procedures. Some K-Wire Attachments are equipped with guides and depth control mechanisms to ensure the accurate path and depth of K-Wire insertion.

These attachments are usually made of stainless steel or other high-strength, corrosion-resistant materials, such as medical-grade titanium alloy, in diameters ranging from 0.5mm to 3.0mm (custom diameters available). This attachment is composed of several parts, each made of different materials, all of which can be customized. We offer, but are not limited to, the following materials: Stainless Steel 301, 302, 304, 316L, 420, 440B, 440C, CW614N (Ms58), and 1.4122. In addition to stainless steel, we also offer medical-grade Nickel Titanium materials, each of which consists of near-equiatomic percentages of nickel and titanium, in accordance with GB 24627 and ASTM F2063 standards, suitable for surgical implants.

 

These parameters are for reference; we offer full customization to meet your specific needs, including material selection, shape design, and machining processes. Custom packaging is available upon request.

Manufacturing Process for K-Wire Attachment

 

 

The manufacturing of K-Wire Attachments involves 5-axis CNC machining and sliding headstock lathe machining, including milling, drilling, and turning. Our advanced machinery includes the Japanese Mazak QTE-100MSYL and Citizen Cincom L12-1M7, ensuring high precision and quality. Product tolerances are maintained at +/-0.01mm, with a surface roughness of Ra < 0.4um. The combination of high quality materials and high precision machines results in our superior products.

 

 

 

 

 

 

After machining, we support various surface treatment processes, including but not limited to physical polishing, electropolishing (also known as electrochemical polishing or anodic polishing), ultrasonic cleaning, acid etching, and passivation. In addition, we offer laser marking for products that require scales or markings.

 

Electropolishing and ultrasonic cleaning are essential steps for any product. Electropolishing removes imperfections, increases corrosion resistance, reduces surface roughness, and improves surface finish.
