What Is Cast Iron?
There are three main types of cast iron: grey-mouth cast iron (GCI), ball-ink cast iron (NCI), and creep-ink cast iron (CGI).
Cast iron is made of Fe-C with a relatively high silicon content (1-3%).
The carbon content is more than 2%, which is the largest solubility of C in the Aust phase.
Cr (chromium), Mo (chromium) and V (chromium) are added to form carbides, increasing strength and hardness, but reducing machinability.
Group K is mainly used in automotive components, machine manufacturing and ironmaking.
The material's chip forming varies from approximately powdery chips to long chips. The power required to process this material set is usually small.
Note that there is a big difference between gray-mouth cast iron (usually chip approximately powdery) and ball-ink cast iron, which is often similar to steel.
Processing characteristics:
Short chip material.
Good chip control in all operating conditions.
Unit cutting force: 790-1350 N/mm2.
Processing at a higher speed can result in abrasive wear.
Medium cutting force.
