Cemented carbide is a tool material made by powder metallurgy process. It is a mixture of refractory tungsten carbide (WC), titanium carbide (TiC) compound powder and binder metal cobalt (Co). It is characterized by high hardness (69~81HRC) and hot hardness (up to 900~1000℃), good wear resistance and high compressive strength, it can process high-speed steel tools can not be processed The material can multiply increase the cutting speed of precision parts processing and extend the tool life. Due to the high hardness and brittleness of cemented carbide, they are generally made into blades of certain specifications, which are inserted and welded on the blade body.
Commonly used hard alloys are tungsten cobalt and tungsten titanium cobalt:
1. Tungsten cobalt hard alloy:
The grades of tungsten-cobalt cemented carbide are expressed by the percentage of "HG" and "cobalt" in Chinese pinyin "YG" plus cobalt. For example, YG6 means w(Co)=6% cemented carbide, the rest of the composition For WC. The higher the content of cobalt, the higher the strength of cemented carbide, the better the toughness, and the lower the strength, the worse the wear resistance. Cemented carbide tools with high cobalt content are used for rough machining with large impact and vibration, and cemented carbide tools with low cobalt content are suitable for precision parts processing.
2. Tungsten titanium cobalt hard alloy:
The grades of tungsten, titanium, cobalt and tungsten carbides are expressed by the percentage of "hard" and "titanium" in the pinyin "YT" plus TiC. For example, YT14 means w(TiC)=14% cemented carbide, and the other main chemical components are WC and Co. The higher the TiC content, the higher the hardness of the cemented carbide, the better the heat resistance, and the lower the strength, the worse the toughness. Therefore, cemented carbide tools with more TiC are suitable for machining precision parts with stable working conditions, and cemented carbide tools with less TiC are suitable for rough machining.
The tungsten-cobalt cemented carbide has better strength and toughness, and the sharpness is also better. The tools made of this kind of cemented carbide are suitable for processing cast iron and non-ferrous metals; the tungsten-titanium-cobalt cemented carbide has better wear resistance The resistance and heat resistance of this kind of cemented carbide tools are suitable for processing steel.
