According to the cooling rate of cylinder forgings after forging, there are three cooling methods for cylinder forgings: cooling in air, which is faster; cooling in a pit (box), which is slower, and cooling in furnace, which is the slowest
Cool in the pit (box)
After forging, the cylinder forgings are placed in a pit or iron box for closed cooling, or buried in sand, lime or slag in the pit for cooling. Generally, the sand temperature of forgings should not be lower than 500°C: The thickness of the surrounding sand should not be less than 80mm. The cooling rate of the cylinder forgings in the pit can be adjusted by different insulating materials and heat preservation media.
