The reason why tin-bismuth alloy is called "green structural material in the 21st century". Because it has low density, high specific strength, high specific stiffness, vibration damping and magnetic shielding, good precision parts processing performance, high surface quality can be obtained after processing, no pollution to the environment, and good recyclability. The environmentally friendly tin-bismuth alloy with guaranteed quality meets environmental protection requirements, so it is widely used. There are not many studies on the high-speed cutting of environmentally friendly tin-bismuth alloys. Due to the special nature of their processing, senior operators from Asia-America Precision have put forward several new considerations in terms of processing safety protection.

1. Pay attention to rust prevention during processing

The tin and bismuth alloy parts used for processing should be neatly arranged in the designated storage location, and it is not allowed to touch the ground; wipe the surface of the parts coated with anti-rust oil with a cloth dipped in gasoline, and then process them only after being dried; More than half a month; the oxide film will be damaged after the parts are scribed, so the scribe should be done before the final oxidation; the precision parts are allowed to be lubricated with oil for cooling when processing the threads; all the acute angles of the parts should be rounded to get the best protection of.

2. Pay attention to fire prevention during processing

When processing environmentally friendly tin-bismuth alloy parts at a prescribed site, the work site needs to be clean, bright, and ventilated. It is necessary to clean up the magnesium scraps at the work site in time, and it is forbidden to stack the scraps next to the machine tool. Instead, the scraps should be placed in a special container outside the plant. A dry powder fire extinguisher or dry sand for fire extinguishing shall be arranged next to each processing machine. Use dry high-speed cutting as much as possible, without using coolant, the air is naturally cooled, and equipped with flushing chip removal equipment. Since the environmentally friendly tin-bismuth alloy powder in contact with water easily generates hydrogen, mineral oil should be used as much as possible in production and processing, and the machine tool for oil-based cutting fluid must have a leak-proof design.

3. Reduce deformation of parts during processing

When machining precision parts of environmentally friendly tin-bismuth alloys, high-speed, large-cutting cutting should be performed, which to a certain extent offsets the weakness of environmentally-friendly tin-bismuth alloys at higher prices. In principle, any tool material, including ordinary carbon steel, can be used to process environmentally friendly tin-bismuth alloys. For large-volume cutting, carbide tools are generally used. Diamond tools are mainly used when the surface quality requirements are strict. Turning environmentally friendly tin Diamond tools are also generally used for bismuth alloys. However, the environmentally friendly tin-bismuth alloy has a low ignition point, and it must be strongly cooled with mineral oil during processing, and the chips of magnesium are quickly transported away from the processing area.
