HEKUMA, a German manufacturer of automation equipment, is looking for a servo drive system for rotating arms that can operate two high-dynamic injection molding machines simultaneously. The decisive criterion for selection is whether the system has the maximum torque density and the highest level of positioning accuracy. Our Galaxy ® D-Series drivetrains have won the unanimous favor of the company's design engineers. The Galaxy ® The D-Series gearbox motion technology is designed to outperform other similar products, making it easy to meet all customer requirements.

HEKUMA, Inc.: A byword for high-performance injection molding machine automation systems

Headquartered in Harbergmos, near Munich, Germany, HEKUMA GmbH is the world's leading manufacturer of high-performance injection molding process automation systems. The company's core business includes powerful removal systems, injection molding machines and mold integrated automation systems, and the development of comprehensive all-inclusive solutions for removal, processing, assembly, labeling, testing and packaging steps. SINCE ITS ESTABLISHMENT IN 1974, HEKUMA HAS SOLD MORE THAN 5,000 OF ITS EQUIPMENT IN THE MEDICAL, AUTOMOTIVE, PACKAGING MACHINERY AND CONSUMER GOODS INDUSTRIES.

GALAXIE ®: permanent maintenance-free and repair-free

When installed in a rotating arm, the compact Galaxie ® D will be in an absolutely hidden state. That's why permanent maintenance-free and repair is so important to HEKUMA. Our innovative drivetrains have a highly stable back gap and innovative motor feedback system for multi-turns without the need for a battery buffer, so it also meets other key requirements of end customers.

GALAXIE ®: Ideal for high availability automation systems

HeKUMA rotating components act as connecting components in the thermoset and thermoplastic substrate secondary injection molding process. Each insertion and removal element has 32 mold cavities. The machine has a cycle time of 20 seconds and runs for 340 days in three shifts a year. In other words, the transmitter, equipped with the Galaxy ® D-Series, can move more than 47 million items in 12 months.

However, the popularity of HEKUMA is not limited to the dynamic performance of the Galaxie ® D - its conveyor has a rotating arm of 270 kg and can be rotated 180 degrees in the Y direction. Therefore, in order for the cavity refinement to be determined to be located in front of the injection moulding machine, the drivetrain must be highly stiff and the smallest possible torsional back gap. In addition, in a fixed limited installation space, only mechanical integration of new motor/gearbox units can be selected - at a time when the advantages of the Galaxy's compact ® D product structure are highlighted again.

Galaxy ®: Superior on principle

The Galaxy ® is a new design gearbox style

The gearbox has the following important characteristics: the replacement of rigid ring gear with dynamic column teeth, multi-tooth simultaneous tangental and flow surface contact meshing and extremely precise synchronous operation, in addition to the use of new separate bearing rings. All of these innovations have led to a new design concept, with the result that the dynamics of the Galaxy ® gearbox are significantly superior to existing planetary, swing, eccentric and standard harmonic gearboxes in all key technology areas compared to market standards.

This concept presents new opportunities for productivity growth in high-performance engineering. Engineers and designers can now make a real leap forward in research and development.

Independent column-tooth movement and multiple-tooth simultaneous contact drive serun for great torsional stiffness

For heKUMA's rotary arm, the ability to provide the highest level of constant positioning accuracy will be decisive. With great torsional stiffness and torsional back gaps of less than 1arcmin, the Galaxy ® D Series are perfectly suited to this performance requirement. The independent column-tooth movement means that almost all individual teeth can now be meshed synchronously during torque transfer, which helps to increase stiffness. In addition, the flanks of the various column teeth and ring gear are designed in the form of a pair of screws. This allows power to be transmitted through multiple face contact cylinder teeth - at which point the contact area ratio is significantly improved.

Twist back gap constant - that is, zero back gap version

HEKUMA's second positioning accuracy requirement relates to torsional back gaps. In theory, we can also achieve zero back gaps for the Galaxy ® D Series. But automation design experts eventually chose to reduce the twisting back gap to less than 1arcmin. Combined with the right torsional stiffness, the design ensures that the product fully meets the customer's accuracy requirements and absorbs all the locking forces generated during positioning.

Designed for maintenance-free applications

Our Galaxy ® D Series are designed to follow kinematics principles and can be used in the rotating arms of injection moulding machines for long periods of time without repair and maintenance. The profile design is based on the principle of a number of screws to ensure highly accurate synchronous operation. In addition, constant pressure distribution and fluid-powered lubrication during loading prevent the wear and contamination of lubricants in the gearbox. The choice and addition of lubricants depends on where the Galaxy ® the D Series is installed.

The highest level of control and positioning accuracy

To ensure that mechanical accuracy is translated into the highest level of control and positioning accuracy, the Galaxy ® D series of products for the first time adopted the SEM90 rotary motor feedback system introduced by SICK STEGMANN to meet THE application needs of HEKUMA. This fully inductive multi-turn system supports high-resolution position control of the server. The mechanical multi-loop encoder can have a resolution of up to 4096 laps. Sensors can operate without the need for a backup battery, saving on the cost of new battery replacement and the time cost of replacing it at the end of the backup battery life. The SEM90 can be connected to the SEW Eurodrive MOVIDRIVE drive via the HIPERFACE protocol.

Galaxy ®: Excellent in all technology areas

The system combines the advantages of high precision, compact design, high dynamics and maintenance-free, so it is favored by HEKUMA.

The gearbox is currently being applied to other processing shafts to meet specific requirements in terms of mounting space, power density and accuracy.
