Most industrial aluminum profiles are 6063-T5 grade aluminum profiles. The tensile strength of this grade of industrial aluminum profiles is generally above 160MPa and the yield strength is above 110MPa. If the strength is not reached, it will affect the performance of the aluminum profile. So what are the reasons for the unqualified tensile strength of industrial aluminum profiles?

1. Unqualified alloy composition

The aluminum profile of 6063 grades is composed of aluminum, magnesium and silicon, and the content of Mg2Si in 6063 aluminum alloy profile should be controlled at 0. Within 75% ~ 0.80%, try to reduce the presence of excess magnesium or silicon. At the same time, impurity elements will also affect the strength of industrial aluminum profiles, such as iron element, excessive content will seriously affect the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of aluminum profiles. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly control the iron element during casting, and the content is less than 0.25% is ideal.

2. Defects such as loose and slag inclusion of aluminum casting rods

Defects in raw materials can also lead to insufficient tensile strength of industrial aluminum profiles. The grains of cast rods are coarse and loose. The extruded aluminum profiles also have coarse grains and become brittle.
