The concept of mass is subject to many interpretations. As a product manufacturer, your goal is to achieve precise quality: status that can be defined, verified, and reproduced over and over again.
The purpose of quality control is not only to prevent defects, but also to ensure that parts are manufactured according to design specifications and are operating properly.
A good quality control plan helps to produce on time and on budget, and also helps to avoid product safety issues. Since the quality of your final product and application depends on quality components, your part supplier needs to thoroughly understand your requirements.
What part requirements does your supplier need to know?
Provide your manufacturing partner with detailed engineering drawings showing requirements for completed parts. They also need to know which features are most critical to meeting your manufacturing quality requirements. Finally, specify your raw materials and sources. In other words, where do you have to start to get the end result you want?
How to achieve your requirements?
Your provider shall document in writing the components of its quality control system, including processes, procedures and any other factors that may affect quality. In metal parts manufacturing, as well as many other industries, ISO 9000 guidelines are used to establish, document and support quality control methods.
