Copper tungsten electrode

Metal cutting copper-tungsten electrodes are the best-selling products in resistance spot welding and EDM applications, resisting cracking and providing superior performance. Our unique defection-free bonding (NDB) technology produces copper-tungsten electrodes that provide the required level of thermal conductivity while reducing wear and extending electrode life. The result is the best productivity and welding quality for your electrode application.

Selection of three copper-tungsten electrode components

Our three types of copper-tungsten electrodes combine the physical properties of the two materials using complex alloys. Our C10B2 electrode has a weight ratio of 10% copper to 90% tungsten, a specific gravity of 16.8 and a hardness of 330 HV. According to the International Standard for Annealed Copper (IACS), the conductivity of the product is 30%; Its resistivity is 5.7x10 ^-8^ ω m. Our C30A2 electrode is 30% copper and 70% tungsten, has a specific gravity of 14.2, a hardness of 225 HV, a conductivity of 48%, and a resistivity of 3.5x10 ^-8^ ω m. Our 50-50 copper-tungsten electrode C50A2 has a specific gravity of 12.1, a hardness of 160 HV, a conductivity of 63%, and a resistivity of 2.7 x10^-8^ ω m. (for comparison, chromium-copper reference material is 1% copper, which has a specific gravity of 8.9, a hardness of 150 HV, a conductivity of 80%, and a resistivity of 2.1 x10^-8^ ω m.

Intelligent design means better welding and longer electrode life

Tests show that our copper-tungsten electrode exhibits excellent hardness and minimal alloy formation at high temperatures compared to electrodes using alloys such as chromium-copper. The result is improved performance without deforming the electrode or sticking to the workpiece.

Our cop-tungsten electrode design and construction not only utilizes the appropriate composition and correct tip and handle profile, but also utilizes our NDB bonding method in electrode fabrication to ensure high thermal conductivity and stable bonding quality. This NBD process produces a bonding area ratio of almost 100% compared to conventional brazing and press-fitting. This high quality bonding enables the electrodes to provide superior cooling performance after welding stops, resulting in increased injection cycles and productivity. Depending on the welding conditions, our NDB method extends the service life of the electrode by a factor of ten.

Wide range of automatic welding applications

With an intelligent design based on our extensive expertise in tungsten and its alloys, our high-performance copper-tungsten electrodes are suitable for a wide range of high-speed, automated welding operations. For brazing copper and copper alloys, our cop-tungsten electrodes provide excellent electrode thermal balance for applications such as motors, automobiles, and high-speed spot welding of any wire harness using complex or simple wire harness. Other applications include line switches for battery packs and electrical components for production lines of circuit breakers and electrical switches. In addition to being used for copper wires and terminals, our electrodes are also used for manufacturing lithium ion batteries and nickel metal hydride batteries, as well as welding of battery tubes.
