When machining parts with precision parts, the device used to prevent displacement or vibration of the workpiece during processing is called a clamping element. The most commonly used clamping elements in machine tool fixtures are "spiral elements" and "pressure plate elements."

The screw element clamps the workpiece, which has a large clamping force, can resist a large cutting force, and can be adjusted at a large distance, but the clamping action is not rapid, the pressure is concentrated, and the surface of the workpiece is easily flattened. Rotation makes it easy to move the workpiece, but this shortcoming will only appear when the screw is used alone. It does not have this shortcoming when it is used together with other components such as pressure plate, lever, inclined wedge, etc. Therefore, the screw is still a precision part production One of the widely used clamping elements in practice.

The function of the pressure plate is to fix the work piece on the fixture, and it does not generate clamping force itself. The following figure shows the structure of several flat pressure plates, mainly displacement plate, rotary plate, forced rotary plate, The long and narrow slots on the pressure plate are used for bolts. When the precision parts are processed, the surface of the pressure plate can be made into a flat surface, a cylindrical surface or a serrated surface.
