Cemented carbide is an alloy material made of hard compound of refractory metal and bonding metal through powder metallurgy process. One or more alloys of carbide and bonded metal drills are often called cemented carbide. Precision parts processing plants are inseparable from hard alloys.
Cutting is one of the common ways of cutting carbide rods, plates, and wires. For grooving or cutting below 1mm, diamond ultra-thin cutting blades are commonly used for processing.
Diamond resin matrix type cutting disc, in which the outer annular band is the working layer of resin bond abrasive, the central part is a metal material with high strength and high rigidity, which is mostly used for grooving and cutting of medium and large cutting depths.
In the process of turning cemented carbide parts, the hardness of the tool itself must be higher than the hardness of the workpiece being processed. Therefore, the current tool materials for turning cemented carbide parts are mainly high hardness and heat resistance non-metallic binders CBN and PCD (diamond ) Mainly.
(1) Carbide parts with hardness less than HRA90, choose CBN tool made of BNK30 material for large allowance turning, the tool will not crack or burn. Hard alloy parts with hardness greater than HRA90, generally choose CDW025 PCD tool or use resin bond diamond grinding wheel for grinding.
(2) For the machining of carbide parts with grooves above R3 for precision parts, for large machining allowances, generally use BNK30 material CBN tools for rough machining, and then grinding with grinding wheels. For small machining allowances, you can directly use grinding wheels for grinding, or use PCD tools for profiling.
(3) Carbide roller crescent groove engraving rib processing, using CDW025 material diamond carving milling cutter (also known as flying cutter, rotary milling cutter).
For the milling process of carbide parts, according to customer needs, we can provide CVD diamond coated milling cutters and diamond insert milling cutters for precision parts processing, which can replace electrolytic corrosion and electrical sparking processes to improve production efficiency and products. Quality, such as micro-milling of carbide with CVD diamond coated milling cutter, the surface roughness can reach 0.073μm.
The diamond insert type milling cutters are mostly ball cutters. PCD or BL-PCD (binderless nano-polycrystalline diamond) is brazed to the cemented carbide arbor. The BL-PCD cutting edge is higher than traditional PCD tools. Such as BL-PCD spherical end milling cutter milling carbide die, can achieve a surface roughness of less than 10nm.
