Milling characteristics of machining plane and connecting surface of precision parts

When processing precision parts on a milling machine, the milling cutter is used to process the milling plane and the connecting surface with the following characteristics:

(1) Using different combinations of workpiece clamping methods, milling cutters, milling machines and milling methods, it is possible to process planes and connecting surfaces on parts of various shapes. For example, on a vertical milling machine, a face milling cutter is used to process vertical and parallel planes, and on a gantry milling machine, two vertical milling heads are used to install a face milling cutter to simultaneously mill inclined surfaces and vertical surfaces. As another example, the inclined surface of the milling can be processed by the rotation angle of the workpiece, or the precision parts can be processed by the method of tilting the end mill.

(2) The shape precision of the milling cutter can directly control the quality of the precision parts processing on the plane and the connecting surface. For example, on a horizontal milling machine, a three-sided edge milling cutter can be used to directly mill a rectangular connecting surface that is parallel on both sides and perpendicular to the bottom surface. As another example, a 45-degree angle cutter can be used to directly machine a slope with an angle of 45 degrees to the horizontal reference plane.

(3) Reasonable selection of the geometric angle and milling amount of the milling cutter can process the plane and the connecting surface with higher accuracy, and has higher cutting efficiency.
