Shell mold casting, also referred to simply as shell mold casting, is a sheet metal fabrication casting process that involves the use of resin-coated sand for the mold. Molten metal is poured into the cavity of the mold, at which point the mold evaporates, forming a hard shell. As complicated as it sounds, shell mold casting is a relatively simple process consisting of only 10 steps. After the pattern is created, the stencil is created.
