In CNC machining, after the workpiece coordinate system is determined, the CNC drilling and milling machine also needs to determine the position of the tool's tool point in the workpiece coordinate system. That is often called the knife problem. On CNC machine tools, at present, the commonly used tool setting method is manual trial cutting tool setting.
Suppose the part is a symmetrical part, and the blank has been measured with a length of L1 and a width of L2, and the diameter of the flat-bottom end mill has also been measured. As shown in Figure 1, after the workpiece is clamped on the milling machine table, the machine tool is manually operated. The specific steps are as follows:
1) Reference point operation
Adopt ZERO (reference point return) method for reference point return operation to establish the machine coordinate system. At this time, the coordinate value of the current position of the milling cutter center (setting reference point) in the machine coordinate system will be displayed on the CRT. 2) Manual knife setting
The CNC drilling and milling machine first makes the tool close to the left side of the workpiece (using the jog operation, which starts with the micro-cutting), the tool is as shown in position A, press the set programming zero key, and X0, Y0, Z0 are displayed on the CRT, then complete Programmable zero setting in X direction. Then move the tool closer to the front side of the workpiece. The tool is positioned as shown in Figure B. Keep the tool in the Y direction and move the tool back in the X direction. When the X coordinate value on the CRT is 0, press the programming zero setting key to complete the X and Y. The programmed zero point setting of the direction. Finally, raise the Z axis, move the tool, considering the existence of the cutter radius, when the X coordinate value displayed on the CRT is (L1/2 + cutter radius), and the Y coordinate value is (L2/2+ cutter radius), Move the bottom of the milling cutter close to the upper surface of the workpiece and press the programming zero setting key. The X, Y, and Z coordinate values displayed on the CRT screen are all cleared to zero (that is, X0, Y0, Z0). The system has completed the function of setting the programmed zero point. Set the cutter point of the milling cutter on the symmetry center of the workpiece, that is, the workpiece origin of the workpiece coordinate system.
3) Establish the workpiece coordinate system
At this point, the current position of the tool (mill point of the milling cutter) is at the programmed zero point (ie workpiece origin). Due to the manual trial cutting method, the adjustment is simple, reliable, and economical, so it is widely used.
