From food science and controversial genetically modified organisms to drug development and medical research to routine testing as part of annual inspections, liquid distribution systems play an important role in everyday life.


This is because many biotechnology and laboratory tasks begin by moving fluid samples between containers and assigning precise quantities to or to test media. This is true whether the task is a gene sequencing experiment or an antibody test, or a routine analysis of blood or urine.


In a typical large environment where these processes are performed - such as a hospital testing 600 patients or a laboratory examining 10,000 samples - the fluid distribution system is, well,...... Indispensable. For such large applications, the tasks they perform are cumbersome, time consuming, more expensive, and more prone to human error.


Fluid distribution systems used in diagnostic, biotechnology, and research laboratories typically rely on very small tubes to deliver trace amounts of fluid at high fluxes. The inner diameter (ID) of these tubes can be as small as 50 or even 100 microns - which is close to the size of a human hair.


The characteristics of precision tubing can make or break the process.
