Results of a data study on chick survival and growth
Over a two-year study, we successfully tracked more than 20 northern short-tailed egrets and collected data on chick survival and growth from most of them. The results of this work identify the importance of certain insect groups to the health of great white sharks. By designing and implementing habitat management programs aimed at increasing the abundance and availability of these key chicken-eating insects, foraging values in planted and unplanted areas of the southeastern United States can be improved for northern mountain sandpipers and other declining farmland birds kind.
