Due to the high precision of CNC precision parts processing and short delivery time, the position of equipment operation efficiency in production and processing is self-evident. Learning basic knowledge can not only improve production efficiency, but also reduce the incidence of machine failures.
Ⅰ. Wear of flank face
Too fast flank will result in poor or super poor surface quality
Cause: The cutting speed is too fast, or the tool resistance is not good.
solution:
1. Reduce the cutting speed.
2. Choose a more wear-resistant tool.
3. For work hardened materials, a smaller lead angle or a more wear-resistant grade should be selected.
Ⅱ. Groove wear
Groove wear can cause surface quality degradation and cutting edge rupture
Reasons: 1. Oxidation
Solution: Choose a metal ceramic grade.
2. Wear
Solution: Choose a more wear-resistant grade (when processing heat-resistant materials, the use of ceramic blades can increase the cutting speed).
Ⅲ. Crescent pit wear
Excessive crater wear will cause the cutting edge to weaken. Damage to the trailing edge of the cutting edge will cause a decrease in surface quality. Risk of blade breakage.
the reason:
1. Due to excessively high cutting temperature on the rake face, diffusion wear is caused.
solution:
Use positive rake blade geometry. First, reduce the cutting speed to lower the temperature, and then lower the feed.
Ⅳ. built-up edge
A built-up edge causes a decrease in surface quality, and when the built-up edge falls off, the cutting edge breaks.
the reason:
1. Cutting speed is too low.
2. Negative rake angle cutting geometry.
3. Sticky workpiece materials.
solution:
1. Increase cutting speed or increase cooling.
2. Select the positive rake angle shape. Reduce feed at the beginning of cutting.
3. Choose thin coating grades and positive rake angle grooves.

Ⅴ. Crushing
Fine chipping of the cutting edge leads to poor surface quality and excessive wear of the flank face.
the reason:
1. The grade is too crisp.
2. The blade groove is too weak.
3. Built-up tumor.
solution:
1. Choose a brand with better toughness.
2. Choose a blade with a higher groove strength (for ceramic blades, a larger chamfer should be selected).
3. Increase the cutting speed or choose a square geometry. Reduce cutting speed and coolant. Reduce feed at the beginning of cutting.
Ⅵ. Hot crack
Small cracks perpendicular to the cutting edge can cause the blade to chip and reduce the surface quality.
the reason:
1. Intermittent cutting.
Solution: Choose a tougher grade that can better resist crack propagation.
Coolant should be supplied adequately or not used at all.
2. The amount of coolant supply changes.
solution:
1. Coolant should be supplied adequately or not used at all
Ⅶ. Blade rupture
Blade rupture will not only damage the blade, but also the blade pad and the workpiece.
the reason:
1. The grade is too crisp.
2. The blade load is too large.
3. The blade groove is too weak.
4. The blade size is too small.
solution:
1. Choose a brand with better toughness.
2. Reduce feed and/or cutting depth.
3. Choose a groove with higher strength, preferably a single-sided blade.
4. Choose a thicker/larger blade.
