 1. Analysis of technical performance of workpiece material

Different workpiece materials, due to their different melting points and vaporization points, cannot be processed in the same way, otherwise products with unqualified quality will be obtained. Therefore, it must be selected according to the actual surface quality. To achieve high precision, it is necessary to choose cemented carbide materials, not stainless steel or quenched high-carbon steel, otherwise it cannot meet the requirements.

2. Selection of working fluid

Spark discharge needs to be carried out in a liquid medium with a certain insulating performance. The insulating performance of the working fluid can compress the discharge channel after breakdown, so that the spark discharge is limited to a smaller channel radius, resulting in instantaneous and local high temperature , So that the metal that has not vaporized is melted, and the discharge gap can be quickly restored to an insulating state after the discharge is completed. If the insulation performance is too low, electrolysis does not form a spark discharge point; if the insulation is too high, the discharge gap is small, chip removal is difficult, and the speed will be reduced.

3. Selection and calibration of electrode wire

Slow wire EDM wire cutting processing electrode wire mostly uses brass wire, copper wire, brass plus aluminum, brass plus zinc, etc. For static and dense wire EDM, it is necessary to ensure that the tension of the electrode wire is increased as much as possible under the premise of continuous wire. You can also choose to use molybdenum wire or tungsten wire.

4. Processing of threaded holes

In the actual production and processing, in order to prevent the internal stress deformation of the workpiece from participating in the stress deformation and the thermal stress deformation caused by the electric discharge, whether it is to process the closed workpiece of the concave mold or the convex mold, it should first be processed in the appropriate position. . Wire-cutting and slow-moving wire machine tools have a certain diameter wire hole for closed cutting, avoiding open cutting.

5. Clamping and alignment of the workpiece

To prepare the workpiece to be processed by the slow-moving wire EDM machine tool, the reference plane needs to be determined in the previous processing, and it can be clamped and aligned correctly on the slow-moving wire electrical discharge machine tool. Need to make full use of machine tool accessories to clamp the workpiece. For some complex structures and easily deformed workpieces, special fixtures can be designed and manufactured when necessary.
