While 3D metal printers say they can do just about anything, cold working is one of the challenges they have to overcome before 3D printing bone screws for all applications. Prior to this, Pride processing had the advantage of starting from cold-made materials as rods.

For threads, holes, steps, and other features that may be critical to screw function, both the addition and subtraction processes produce the same dimensional end result.
