Usually, three kinds of titanium are used: A40, A55, A70. Generally, A40 can bend twice the diameter at room temperature. Smaller radii or other materials require heating. Use the following formula: E=.5D/R where E=percent elongation D=tube inch diameter R=inch centerline radius. If E is greater than the elongation of the material, heating (hot bending) must be used instead of room temperature (cold bending). Generally, the elongation (plasticity) of titanium is the largest at 350-500F. When it exceeds 500F, the elongation becomes smaller, so precise control is required.
