Precision surface grinding applications

For hexagonal cubic rectangular or square metal sheets, precision surface grinding enables you to make each side square and parallel to itself or the reference surface. These square or rectangular blocks are usually fixed to the grinding table by magnets so that you can set one flat surface against another flat surface.

From this critical base, surface grinding is invaluable for applications such as die making. The precision of the position required for the molds used in extrusion and injection molding means that the molds must be square with the outboard center, and precision surface grinding is provided here.

You simply can't grind a piece of metal as directly and accurately as surface grinding -- not to mention, the milling surface will never match the ground finish to achieve a smooth, low Ra value.

Surface grinding services can also be used for bars, although the outer diameter of the bar cannot be rounded; For this task, outer diameter grinding (also known as outer circular grinding) is used. However, surface grinding can make both ends of the rod completely perpendicular to the outside diameter.

Here, the V-block is used to position the bar for grinding. The round rod is placed into the V-shaped cavity and the clamp holds the rod vertically in place. From there, precision surface grinding can be used to grind the top of the bar to a size perfectly square with the outside diameter.
