white spots
The white spots are internal cracks caused by the precipitation and accumulation of excessive hydrogen in steel, especially after the cooling of hot-rolled and forged alloy steels. White spots are mostly distributed near the center of large rolled products or forgings or at a certain distance from the surface, often appearing in groups. The white spot found in magnetic particle inspection is its cross section, that is, a small crack with a jagged edge. The white dots have a great influence on the mechanical properties of the steel, which are not allowed defects. The magnetic powder pattern of the white dots is larva-like or broken, the crack is thick in the middle, and the ends are thin, so the accumulation of magnetic powder is thick and compact.
