Flatness is achieved by grinding or machining

In our fixed-length metal cutting business, we do not deal with flatness and parallelism as often as we do with verticality, and other shapes are possible, but not typical. For example, a trapezoidal shape can be completed - such as a pipe cut with one end tilted to the left and the other end tilted to the right - but this is not the request we usually get because it requires rotating the part to cut the opposite ends. Similar to the use of a screw machine to separate parts, our metal cutting process does have the unique ability to not only use a rotating abrasive wheel, but also to rotate the product, resulting in significant parallelism.

However, on the machining side of our business, customers often seek flatness and they may ask us to use grinding or machining to achieve a specified flatness. For example, our grinding capabilities allow us to flatten parts processed by others into what our customers want. By using our enhanced machining and cutting capabilities, we are also able to manufacture parts to the degree of parallelism and verticality desired by our customers.
