As a more brittle and intolerant material, titanium is also harder to work with. The more things you have to do with titanium to achieve the end product, the more likely you are to encounter chipping edges and other surface roughness problems.

Titanium processing also requires more coolant than other materials. High pressure coolant must be delivered from multiple nozzles and angles precisely to the processing location to flood the area with coolant.

In addition, titanium is rarely used in pipe joints. In fact, especially for medical devices - which require a lot of machining at the joint point to produce flares, forging and threads - metals of any kind are a very small part of the card casing joint market.

In contrast, the high-durability PEEK (polyether ether ketone) or other specialized plastics that can be more easily molded and machined are more commonly used in medical device casing joints.
