Edm refers to discharge machining. This is a controlled metal removal process. This was done with the help of spark erosion. In edM, the electric spark acts as a cutting tool and helps erode the material in the workpiece. Thus, the process can be used to form the finished part of the desired shape. The process helps achieve high accuracy and is an effective solution for challenging machining applications. There are different types of EDM processes. However, wire cut discharge machining is one of the most popular types and it is adopted by many industries. Wire cut discharge machining, also known as spark edM, is an electrothermal production process in which wire is immersed in deionized water. The current passes through the wire, generating sparks with intense heat up to 12,000 °C. Electric sparks cut materials by melting and vaporizing to remove metal content. The contents are washed from the workpiece by high-pressure washing. The process has a number of features that make it easy to process precision and complex parts.
