Cylindricity, Concentricity And Roundness

Another important dimensional consideration in our metal cutting length business involves the use of round metal tubes, rods or lines that are ground to a specific precise diameter - terms such as cylindricity, concentricity and roundness need to be used. Here, cylindricity is measured along the entire length of the part; Concentricity is the measurement of one point and the second point in the part; Roundness is measured as a point around the whole part relative to itself, not as another reference point.

To understand roundness and concentricity, it is helpful to consider flatness and parallelism. Like flatness, circularity refers to itself; Like parallelism, concentricity refers to another point in space.
