Definition of knife setting:

In the processing of precision parts, because the installation position of the workpiece on the machine tool is arbitrary, to correctly execute the processing program, the exact position of the workpiece in the machine tool coordinate system must be determined. The tool setting of the machining center refers to the operation process of finding out the spatial relationship between the workpiece coordinate system and the machine tool coordinate system. Simply put, tool setting is to tell the machine tool where the workpiece is on the machine table.

In order to ensure the processing accuracy requirements of the workpieces processed by precision parts, the position of the tool setting should be selected as much as possible on the design basis or process basis of the part. If the center point of the hole on the part or the intersection of two mutually perpendicular silhouette edges is used as the tool setting position, the corresponding accuracy requirements should be proposed for these tool positions and prepared before the tool setting.

Tool setter and tool setter:

Tool setting device (or aligner) is an instrument used to determine the relative position of tool and workpiece. Common tool setting devices include: tool setting gauge block, mechanical alignment device, mechanical eccentric edge finder, electronic tool aligner, electronic edge finder, mechanical Z-axis tool aligner, etc.

Common tool setting instruments for precision parts machining centers

There are two types of tool setting instrument: external tool setting instrument and internal tool setting instrument. Using the tool setting tool outside the machine will not occupy the time of the machine tool, which can improve the utilization rate of CNC machine tools for precision parts processing, but this tool setting method Must be carried out together with the tool and tool holder.
