All dogs should be tested for heartworm infection before initiating treatment with dog deworming flavored chewables, which are not effective for adult dogs. Infected dogs must be treated to remove adult heartworms and microfilariae before beginning a program of dog deworming flavored chewables.

Although the ivermectin in the dog deworming chewable tablet can kill some microfilariae at recommended dose levels, the dog deworming chewable tablet is not effective in removing microfilariae. After treatment of some dogs with circulating microfilariae, mild allergic-type reactions have been observed in clinical trials with ivermectin alone, possibly due to the death or moribundity of the microfilariae, especially involving transient diarrhea.

Keep this and all medicines out of the reach of children. If ingested by humans, clients should be advised to contact a physician immediately. A doctor may contact a poison control center for advice on human ingestion cases.
