There are many reasons for the above problems, and this phenomenon and solution are discussed mainly through the analysis of the force situation of the tool.


1. The cause and cause of the problem.

We know that when turning threads with smaller pitches, the straight-forward cutting method is generally used (in a straight-line cut perpendicular to the axis direction of the work piece), and when turning threads with larger pitches, the left-right cutting method is often used to reduce the cutting force (by moving the small skateboard to allow the threaded cutter to cut with the left and right cutting edges separately).


When turning threads, the movement of the bed saddle is achieved by the rotation of the long screw driving the movement of the open and close nuts. There is an axial gap at the bearing of the long screw, and there is also an axial gap between the long screw and the open and close nut.


When using the left and right borrowing knife cutting method of powerful turning right-hand snail cutting with the right main cutting edge, the tool bears the force P given to it by the work piece (ignoring the friction between the chip and the front knife surface, Figure 1), the force P is broken down into axial force Px and radial force division Where the axial force Px and the tool's direction of supply the same, the tool to this axial force Px passed to the bed saddle, thereby promoting the bed saddle to the gap side to do a fast and violent back and forth, the result is to make the tool move back and forth, and the processing surface produces ripples, or even broken knives.


However, there is no such phenomenon when cutting with the left main cutting edge, when cutting with the left main cutting edge, the tool is subjected to the axial force Px opposite to the direction of injin, to eliminate the gap in the direction of movement, when the bed saddle to do a uniform speed movement.

2. Solution.

When the turning pitch is larger using the left and right cutting method of threading, in addition to adjusting the relevant parameters of the crib, should also adjust the bed saddle and bed body rail between the coordination gap, so that it is slightly tighter, to increase the friction when moving, reduce the possibility of bed saddle movement, but this gap can not be adjusted too tight, to be able to shake the bed saddle smoothly.


Adjust the gap between the mid-skateboards to minimize the gap, and adjust the tightness of the small skateboards to make them slightly tighter to prevent the knife from shifting when turning. The length of the workware and the knife rod should be shortened as far as possible, and the cutting of the left main blade should be used as far as possible, and the amount of the back knife should be reduced when cutting with the right main blade.


Increase the front corner of the right main cutting edge, the cutting edge should be straight and sharp, in order to reduce the axial force Px that the tool is subjected to. Theoretically, the larger the front corner of the right main blade, the better.
