What Is the Difference between A Bolt and A Screw?

The main difference between a bolt and a screw is that the screw is to screw the thread directly into the threaded hole of one of the connecting parts without the use of a nut, and the thread of the bolt is not screwed on to the connecting part, but is clamped by the connection in combination with the nut.

Bolts: Mechanical parts, cylindrical threaded fasteners with nuts. A class of fasteners consisting of a head and screw (a cylinder with a male thread) that need to be combined with a nut to fasten and connect two parts with through holes. This form of connection is called a bolted connection. If the nut is screwed down from the bolt, there can be a way to separate the two parts, so the bolt connection is a removable connection.

Screws: Also consisting of a two-part type of head and screw fasteners, can be divided into three categories by use: machine screws, tight screws and special-purpose screws. Machine screws are mainly used for a tight threaded hole part, a fastening connection with a part with a through hole, and no nut fit is required (this form of connection is called a screw connection, also a removable connection; it can also be used with a nut for fastening connections between two parts with through holes). The tight screwise is mainly used to secure the relative position between the two parts. Special purpose screws such as hanging ring screws for lifting parts.
