Precautions for processing surface treatment

The decorative and protective effect of surface treatment on the surface of the product by the processing procedure of the processing is recognized by many industries. In the sheet metal processing industry, the surface treatment methods commonly used are electroplating, spraying and other surface treatment methods.

1. Electroplating is divided into: zinc plating (color zinc, white zinc, blue zinc, black zinc), nickel plating, chrome plating, etc.; it is mainly to form a protective layer on the surface of the material to protect and decorate;

2. Spraying is divided into spray painting and powder spraying. After the material is pretreated, the paint is sprayed onto the surface of the sheet metal workpiece with a spray gun and gas, and the paint forms a coating on the surface of the workpiece. After drying, it plays a protective role ;

3. Other surface treatment methods: anodizing, chromate, wire drawing, sand blasting, oxidation, etc.;

Precautions:

   1. All electrochemical treatments should be carried out in the state of parts, because the chemical solution during the treatment process will be trapped in the gap of the assembly and cause corrosion;

   2. Spot welded parts can be chemically treated, but not electrochemically (including electroplating, anodizing);

   3. Aluminum alloy castings cannot be anodized with sulfuric acid;

   4. Thin and long tubular parts (the length of which is greater than 2 times the diameter) are generally not suitable for electrochemical treatment, because the inner surface will not have a film layer; (special measures can be taken to meet the requirements)

  A. Parts with deep grooves or fine holes (generally referring to depths greater than 2 times the diameter or opening width, but excellent technology can not be limited), the inner surface of the parts will not completely cover the plating;

   b. It is best to phosphatize steel parts before spraying to increase the adhesion of the coating;

  C. In order to improve the corrosion resistance of bright nickel-plated steel parts, copper plating or dark nickel plating can be used as a primer;

  D. Zinc-based alloys generally use an electroplated layer as a protective decoration. In order to improve the bonding force of the plating layer, copper or nickel must be pre-plated first;

  E. Because most organic gases have a corrosive effect on zinc, the design of sheet metal processing should be careful to choose galvanized layer in contact with organic materials or assembled in the same closed body;

  F. For electroplated (oxidized) parts that require riveting, the processing procedure must be electroplating (or oxidation) before riveting.
